For those who are just getting Sims 2 with the release of the Ultimate Collection, here is a guide to installing custom content: http://www.parsimonious.org/support/sims2-adding-downloads-to-your-game.html. Be aware that the directory for Sims 2 UC is different from the original Sims 2, so keep that in mind as you look for the folders. Thanks, Dawn!

Great News From Origin:
You can now get Sims 2 for free but you have to hurry deal ends July 31, 2014
Follow the steps as I say...
1. Open your Origin on your desktop
2. Once it opens click on Origin
3. Choose the redeem product code option
4. now put in this code - I-LOVE-THE-SIMS
5. Click on Next Button
6. Follow the instructions and it should add the sims 2 ultimate collection to ur origin (My Games)
If you would like to set up account with Origin go to this think and download Origin to desktop
